Executive Bios
Patrick Burgess
Chairman of the Student Investment Association and head of the Stock Selection Committee
Mr. Burgess is a senior in the Eli Broad College of Business and a member of the Honors College, studying both finance and human medicine. Mr. Burgess has been heavily involved in the organization over the past four years since he joined in 2004. His previous elected roles in the SIA include President from 2007 to 2008 and Treasurer from 2006 to 2007. During the summer of 2006 he completed an internship with DaimlerChrysler Treasury working with their accounting systems, cash positioning, and banking operations. Most recently, Patrick has spent the past two summers as an analyst with Citi Markets and Banking in New York. These experiences included work in Trading and Client Management. Seth Connors
Vice President of Information Technology
Seth's responsibilities in the SIA include updating and maintaining the website. Seth will graduate in May 2007 with a degree in finance. He will stay at MSU for another year and will persue his M.S. in accounting. He worked for Dow Chemical over the summer of 2006. His internship had a very strong focus on accounting and information systems. He has also worked for smaller companies including Wide Area Management Services and Nuspire LLC. Dan Coyne
Treasurer
Dan is a junior majoring in finance. He is responsible for the treasury operations, cash management, and development of financial statements. During the summer of 2006, Dan worked as a petroleum sales representative at Coyne Oil Corporation. Dan plans to keep meticulous records, implement a system of electronically reconciling revenues and expenses, and help transition the organization into becoming an approved non-profit organization. Stefanie Hilton
Vice President of Funding
Stefanie is currently a freshman and is majoring in Accounting. Stefanie is responsible for funding of SIA’s stock portfolio and fundraising events. She also is in charge of organizing and funding the fall and spring site visits for the members of SIA. She plans on working for a financial advisory firm this summer. Christina Visintainer
Vice President of Marketing
Christina is currently a junior majoring in Accounting and Advertising. Christina studied abroad and received hands-on experience on conducting international business. She plans to obtain a summer internship working for one of the big nine. She is with the promotional strategy, and provides new ideas to further benefit the SIA. Christina is also the VP of Promotions for Volunteer Income Tax Association.
Michael Warakomski
Vice President of Marketing
Mike is a second year Finance major. Through his position of Vice President of Marketing, Mike has actively marketed the SIA and the Analyst Program in a number of ways, which has contributed to an increase in membership. Past jobs Mike has held include as a Sales Rep for College Pro Painters and most recently as an intern at a financial advisory firm called The Capital Group. He will be working for Shell in Houston, TX this summer. Mike is also a member of the Financial Markets Institute and the Honor's College.
Simon Yu
Vice President of Analyst Program
Simon is currently a Freshman majoring in Finance. Simon is in charge of running the weekly Analyst meetings and educating others about various investment and company evaluation strategies. His experience with SIA started in the fall semester of 2006 where he organized and led a site visit to Charlotte, North Carolina. For the visit he secured presentations with various investment banking, private equity, and consulting firms such as Banc of America Securities, Wachovia Securities, Bison Capital Asset Management, and Falfurrias Capital Partners. In addition to SIA, he was also involved with Students Consulting for Non-Profit Organizations. Simon’s goals for the upcoming summer are to acquire an internship in investment banking or financial consulting, and be accepted into the Honor’s College.
Brian Timmer
Vice President of Fundraising
Brian has been an active member of the SIA for over three years. In his second year as Vice President of Fundraising, he looks to raise additional capital for the Analyst programs investment fund. Brian is currently a Senior at New York University's Stern School of Business majoring in Finance.
Anna Kriajeva
Vice President of Operations
Anna’s responsibilities in the SIA include getting the members to become more involved via maintaining/updating membership information for the organization, SIA email account and listserv, and other tasks related to the operations of the organization. Anna’s professional experiences include working at Coca-Cola and PepsiCo in Russia.
In the summer of 2007 Anna worked as a Finance Intern at The Boeing Company providing finance and business support for the Computing & Network Operations business unit. Anna is majoring in Finance with specialization in International Business and will graduate in May of 2008. Anna can be contacted at kriajeva@msu.edu.
Hugh Armstrong
Vice President of External Operations
As Vice President of External Operations, Hugh is in charge of developing and maintaining relationships with investment professionals and companies. This includes bringing in guest speakers and setting up other educational opportunities for the members of the SIA. Hugh is currently seeking an internship program for the summer of 2007 to gain experience in the securities industry. He will be graduating May of 2008 with a degree in Finance. He then plans to begin a career in investment banking or sales and trading. Hugh can be contacted at armst160@msu.edu
